Maintaining effective, efficient communication during the COVID-19 crisis

As we all grapple with COVID-19 and the impact it’s having on our professional and personal lives, we at RubensteinTech want to provide our clients and colleagues with some helpful recommendations around maintaining effective, efficient communication with key stakeholders during this evolving situation.

Regardless of firm culture, protocol, or resources, it’s critical to deliver accurate information in a timely fashion, and via the right channels, especially during times of crisis. The web is one important channel and, if leveraged properly, it can keep your audiences informed and assured.

Our team is actively working with clients to address their needs, and we are pleased to share some ideas that might be helpful to you and your organization:

—Provide notifications via the entry page. Whether it’s the homepage or any page first encountered by a visitor entering your website, consider adding a notification that includes critical messaging that you want them to read. Two examples include notifications served by Akerman and Akin Gump.

—Attach an omnipresent notice to the site navigation. So as not to risk a visitor missing your message, create a static message that connects to the site navigation. This will keep your communication front and center. Two examples include site navigation notices on the Winston & Strawn and BCLP websites.

—Create a pop-up overlay. Similarly, if a message needs to be driven home to every person visiting the site, a pop-up window can deliver the necessary information. Optionally, it can also include a link to access more details.

—Produce a web resource center. In the event that your organization is developing relevant content—beyond notifications around services changes or otherwise—consider creating a resource center. Three examples include resource centers on the Seyfarth ShawBCLP, and Perkins Coie websites.

If you’d like to explore any of the above ideas, or other strategies for leveraging your web properties to better communicate with key constituents, please contact our team to schedule a conversation
