Wilson Sonsini: RubyLaw-powered website

Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (“Wilson Sonsini”) has advised and represented the trailblazers and progress-makers of Silicon Valley for more than 50 years. The firm’s identity is so closely intertwined with innovation and exponential growth that it’s nearly impossible to separate it from the clients it represents. Despite its impressive legacy, the firm’s marketing technology needed to be updated to reflect its pioneering history and its future potential.

To signal this critical inflection point, Wilson Sonsini began with a rebranding exercise, establishing a new logo and visual system. This work was performed by Happy Cog, a New York-based design agency and frequent partner of RubensteinTech. To deliver the robust search and high-performance technology requirements needed to further its ambitions, Wilson Sonsini selected RubyLaw, a content lifecycle management platform that powers the digital properties of more than 25 leading law firms.

Happy Cog’s efforts resulted in a complete redesign, replete with an angled edge motif that repeats in subtle ways across the new website, as well as parallax effects to add dimension and scale. The front-end also includes a sophisticated, left-anchored navigation that enables visitors to more easily find menu items and relevant content. Another front-end feature that provides a differentiated user experience is the application of “snackable content” on attorney bio pages—Highlights of information that entice readers to more deeply engage in a lawyer’s background or the focus of a particular practice/industry.

The RubyLaw-powered back-end is super-charged with Smart Search Level 2, an upgrade on our standard search, which delivers even faster results while leveraging weighted results to surface information according to relevance, priority, geography, and other factors. The RubyLaw API connects to other back-end systems, allowing the Wilson Sonsini Marketing and Business Development teams to have more structured data at-the-ready to analyze and incorporate into key decision-making processes. Finally, Wilson Sonsini is extending its platform to become the RubyLaw Suite, incorporating Experience Management and Proposal Generation modules into the core, which will ensure greater internal alignment, efficiency, and keep the firm on the cutting-edge of law and technology for years to come.
